Nets Fire Jacque Vaughn - RealGM Wiretap
The Brooklyn Nets have fired head coach Jacque Vaughn. Vaughn was hired as the Nets head coach when Steve Nash was fired seven games into the 2022-23 season.
In his two partial seasons in charge of the Nets, Vaughn had a 64-65 record. He went 0-4 in the playoffs, as Brooklyn was swept by the Boston Celtics in the first round of the 2023 NBA Playoffs. The final straw for Vaughn's tenure coaching Brooklyn seems to have been a 50-point loss to Boston in the last game before the All-Star break. Following that game, several Nets players questioned the team's approach and where the team is heading for the rest of the season.
Vaughn also had 10-game interim stint leading the Nets in 2020. He went 7-3 before being swept in the 2020 NBA Playoffs in the bubble.
