Network Rail promises to clean up Brayford Wharf East footbridge 🚆
Network Rail has promised to clean up the railway footbridge which crosses the Brayford Wharf East line afterResidents had pointed out broken glass, fast food packaging and other rubbish strewn across the bridge.It was also noted that some of the midway platforms regularly flood in heavy rains.Concerns were raised that the state of the bridge did not look good and did not give a good impression to visitors to the town, including the students who use the bridge regularly.
In response, Nick Wilton, Sponsor for Network Rail, said: “It’s really important to us that the footbridge over Brayford Wharf East level crossing remains tidy and clean, as we know it is used by many people in the city centre. “Following these reports, our teams will be visiting the footbridge and will carry out work to tidy it up and remove any litter.
“Going forward, we will review our plans for cleaning the bridge to try and prevent issues like this from happening again.”The multi-million-pound bridge was installed and opened in 2019 with the aim of increasing public safety at the crossing. At the time it had faced a series of delays due to problems including the condition of the ground around the building area.
