The higher number of electrodes allows more data to be transmitted to and from the brain, impacting the interface system’s capabilities. The record was achieved in April 2024 during an ongoing clinical study at the Mount Sinai Health System in New York, where Precision Neuroscience’s implant is being tested.The company states that thousands of channels can be delivered to any area on the brain’s surface using their patented, minimally invasive insertion technique.Each microelectrode array comprises 1024 electrodes ranging in diameter from 50 to 380 microns, connected to a customized hardware interface.
