DWP plans to make most of the payments to those already eligible for the £150 lump sum within seven days.
The Department for Work and Pensions has announced a new update for millions of people due to receive the £150 disability cost of living payment. The Minister for Disabled People, Health and Work, Tom Pursglove MP, told MPs in the House of Commons on Tuesday that DWP plans to have made 99 per cent of payments to those already eligible by Monday, June 26.
The DWP Minister told MPs: “Those cash payments, which we estimate will be worth around £1 billion, will be automatically transferred into people’s bank accounts, with those eligible for the support not needing to take any action. To qualify, claimants must have received a payment on April 1, 2023 - or later found to be eligible.
Guidance on GOV.UK adds: “If you were getting a qualifying benefit from the Ministry of Defence and a qualifying benefit from DWP, you will get a disability cost of living payment from DWP only.” As mentioned earlier, DWP plans to make 99 per cent of the payments to those already eligible, by June 26. However, payments will continue until July 4.
