The Met Office has issued a 17-hour yellow warning for heavy rain for much of Shropshire south of a line from Wolverhampton to Welshpool.
Forecasters say that up to 40-60 mm in 4-6 hours during the period from 5pm Thursday to 10am on Friday.
As well as covering the southern half of Shropshire, the warning also includes neighbouring Herefordshire and Worcestershire as it covers the whole of the south of England and Wales.said:"Whilst some areas will miss the worst, areas of heavy, showery rain are expected to become widespread across a swathe of England and Wales during Thursday evening and on into Friday morning.
