More than 8 million people on means-tested benefits are set to receive the lump sum over the coming weeks.
Millions of households across Great Britain are set to receive £300 this Autumn as part of the £900 cost of living payment support, with a further £299 due next Spring. No confirmed details about a payment window or the qualifying period have been announced by the UK Government yet, despite widespread online speculation.
The DWP Minister added: “All cost of living payments will be paid automatically in the same way benefit payments are made, meaning those eligible do not need to apply or take any action in order to receive it.”£300 means-tested cost of living payment Below is a checklist that should help you understand whether or not you will be due the £300 payment this Autumn.
If you’re getting Working Tax Credit or Child Tax Credit from HM Revenue and Customs and a low income benefit from DWP, you will be paid by DWP only. If you’re getting both Child Tax Credit and Working Tax Credit, you will receive the £300 for Child Tax Credit only, which will be paid by HMRC.Single and joint claims Payments are made per claim.
This is because Pension Credit is a retrospective benefit that can be backdated by up to three months, which will most-likely take it to within the qualifying period - which hasn’t been announced yet. It’s fair to assume this will happen as it has been the case for last year’s cost of living payments and the £301 paid in May.
Pension Credit in a nutshell Pension Credit gives people extra money to help with their living costs if they are over State Pension age and on a low income. It can also provide access to a range of other benefits such as help with housing costs, Council Tax, heating bills and for those aged 75 or over, a free TV licence.
