Grandparents over State Pension age in Scotland could be entitled to the new Pension Age Disability Payment here's what you need to know
If you or someone in your family has a disability or health issue, you could be entitled to a new government benefit. The benefit will be replacing Attendance Allowance in Scotland and is being rolled out from 21 October.
'Pension Age Disability Payment, which will replace Attendance Allowance will support older people who have a disability or long term health condition that means they need assistance with looking after themselves, or supervision to keep them safe.' ‘It is not means-tested and is worth between £290 and £434 a month depending on the needs of the person who gets it,’ the guidance states.
Why is the benefit changing? The move is part of a migration from some DWP benefits to the new Scottish welfare system. The system is known as Social Security Scotland.
