New Braunfels will soon start work again on West San Antonio Street from Walnut Avenue to Academy Avenue.
New Braunfels plans to spend $2.4 million on rebuilding a half-mile section of a downtown street — the second time the city will have reworked that stretch of road in four years. The stretch of West San Antonio Street between Walnut Avenue and Academy Avenue started experiencing “premature failure” just a few months after construction was completed in spring 2020, according to the city. That initial project cost about $738,000, funded by a 2013 bond.
