“It was a blessing,” Smith said of signing. “I felt like it was something that overall I deserved. I was glad that I was able to meet with the right coach at the right place to seal a deal.” People are also reading… “It was my first official offer, so as a person you hold it pretty tight,” Smith said. “The main thing was the coach had a nice way of putting everything and really persuaded it . They have a nice new facility and new equipment. It is a first-year team, so hopefully I get a lot of playing time. I know a couple of boys going there, so overall I felt it would be a good fit for me.
“He was just a gamer ,” New Brockton head coach Ben Thompson said. “The thing that made him excel was his confidence in himself and in his abilities. His ultra-competitive nature really made him successful on the mound.”“You have to go out on the mound with the same attitude, the same grit every game even if you know it is a big game and the other team is probably better than you, you have to go out thinking you are the best and they can’t beat you,” Smith said.
