'If the weather holds, this work should be finished by next week'
A new deadline to end a landfill stink plaguing residents of a seaside town has been issued - but fed-up residents are not convinced it will end their misery.
Others have been forced to make arrangements be leave the area entirely on days when the stench is at its worst. On April 9, EA served Transwaste with an enforcement notice stating the site needed to go back in compliance with its permit, with the operators blaming bad weather for the delays. Then, on May 24 the operators were served a second enforcement notice from EA stating they have 'not met the requirements of the first'.
