Investigators said the Secret Service spotted Thomas Matthew Crooks on a rooftop 20 minutes before he began shooting at former President Donald Trump, ABC News reported, adding to a growing list of security failings surrounding the assassination attempt. Investigations have revealed several points of security failure.
Questions have swirled about how police officers and agents tasked with securing Trump's Pennsylvania rally allowed Crooks to get as close as he did.... The agency was also warned that there was a “character of suspicion” on the grounds more than an hour before Saturday’s deadly shooting at Trump’s campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, sources said.
Thomas Matthew Crooks visited the Donald Trump rally location twice, his cell phone contained images of both Trump and President Joe Biden, and the would-be assassin’s search history included dates of the Democratic National Convention as well as future Trump events, three US officials told CNN.
