If you're a beneficiary of the Department of Work and Pensions, your payment dates might alter during the holiday season. This year, Christmas Day lands on a Wednesday and Boxing Day on a Thursday, both bank holidays, as is New Year's Day on January 1.
This could lead to some adjustments in when your benefits will be disbursed. HMRC has confirmed changes to Tax Credits.Payments due on Wednesday, December 25 will be paid on Tuesday, December 24 Payments due on Thursday, December 26 will be paid on Tuesday, December 24 Payments due on Friday, December 27 will be paid on Tuesday, December 24 Payments due on Wednesday, January 1 will be paid on Tuesday, December 31 Payments due on December 25, 26 and 27 will be paid on Tuesday, December 24.
The Department for Work and Pensions has not yet published its December payments schedule but it's anticipated to follow a similar pattern to that set by HMRC. This would imply that benefits usually received on the 25th, 26th or 27th of the month will instead be credited to people's accounts on December 24, reports Bristol Live.Payments expected on January 1 could arrive on New Year's Eve.
