A newly built crematorium in Bishopbriggs, Scotland, emphasizes its commitment to environmental sustainability with the latest cremator technology and energy-efficient features.

A new crematorium, described as one of the most environmentally-friendly in the UK, has opened in Bishopbriggs . The manager of the new Bishopbriggs Crematorium boasted the facility uses the very latest in cremator technology after its opening. The public are invited to visit the new crematorium on Saturday, February 1 between 10am and 2pm for a community open day. The facility is surrounded by landscaped gardens of remembrance, with a peaceful water feature in front of the main entrance.

The new crematorium is located on the north-eastern outskirts of Bishopbriggs off Crosshill Road. The company says the facility is equipped with the latest technology, including three high-resolution screens and an almost unlimited choice of music. The chapel seats 120 people, with additional standing room available if needed. Outside, there are 80 parking spaces and electric vehicle charging points, a Garden of Remembrance and an ash-scattering area. The new crematorium has been built by the Westerleigh Group, which operates 40 other crematoriums across Britain, with the new site being the fourth in Scotland. The group also operates the Borders Crematorium, Stirlingshire Crematorium and West Lothian Crematorium. Manager Donnie Connor said: 'I am proud to be the first manager of this exceptional crematorium, which is one of the most environmentally-friendly facilities in the UK. We are using the very latest in cremator technology, which makes a significant difference towards offsetting our carbon footprint. We have also installed a zonal heating system and low energy lighting. Now we are open, we can warmly welcome and serve people from the communities in and around the Greater Glasgow area and provide them with the exceptional care that the Westerleigh Group is renowned for. We proudly ensure that every service is delivered with respect and dignity, leaving mourners with comforting memories from their loved one’s final journey'
