Councillors says it's time to 'talk up the town centre' as council chief says the new venue will be a 'catalyst for change'

"When we create more footfall, that encourages more retailers to consider establishing a presence in the town centre." But several members stressed how important it is to emphasise the positives to be found in the town, as many smaller, unique shops are thriving despite the challenges. Falkirk Council's economic development manager, Keir Stevenson, said that work to secure funding is getting more difficult but he pointed to successes such as funding for 'Rediscover' videos.

She said: "Our recent survey of 266 attendees from our Dino event revealed that 76 per cent would not have visited the town if the event had not occurred, and only 6 per cent of respondents did not make a purchase." Elaine Grant said: "Our ‘Re-discover’ campaign, which features promotional videos of local businesses, highlights the diverse range of offerings in our town centre and encourages more visits.
