I’ve been writing about video games, television and movies for Forbes for over 10 years, and you may have seen my reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic. I cover all manner of console and PC games, but if it’s about looting or shooting, I’m definitely there. If I’m watching something, it’s usually science fiction, horror or superheroic.
The theme was always known to be post-apocalyptic in nature, but now with this teaser, I am willing to declare that something very, very obvious is going to happen: A crossover with Furiosa , the new Mad Max prequel.
We already know that the apocalyptic video game is getting in on the action with skins and maybe even a location, but given the spiked armor and “NITRO DROME” setup here, which just screams Mad Max, it makes me think that this crossover is coming, even if no, that is definitely not Furiosa in that picture. There is also currently a giant sandstorm in the game that very much resembles the famous sequence from Fury Road.
A cool thing to do would be to true in a whole bunch of apocalyptic fiction here, although between Mad Max and Fallout, that’s certainly two of the major ones. Could be time to get Joel and Ellie in there from The Last of Us? Albeit their wasteland is a bit more green. Oh and hey, didn’t a Planet of the Apes movie just come out? That world is pretty destroyed too, huh.
Anyway, I will say I told you so when Furiosa hits.
