The owner of Great Western Road’s newest café, Memento Mori, aims to offer up something a little different, with his take on the traditional Gothic coffeehouses from the Victorian era.
A new coffee shop inspired by the traditional Gothic coffeehouses from the Victorian era has opened in the west end.
While still being decorated, the café will feature Gothic artwork and 19th-century furniture, and accommodate up to 40 customers at a time. Gary, 36, said: “People in Glasgow are known for their wit and dark sense of humour, so I hope they will realise that the theme of the café isn’t really about death, but about living life to the full – while enjoying great coffee. Looking ahead, it would be amazing to be able to expand our concept to another location in the city – but I’m taking one step at a time.
