Maverick Games / Amazon Games series, has partnered with Amazon Games to publish its upcoming AAA open-world driving game for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
After seeing its story-focused vision for racing games, Christoph Hartmann, vice-president of Amazon Games, said Maverick “stood out as a studio that can deliver on all fronts.” He continued: “Mike and his team are the total package–proven game developers who are masters at their craft and aren’t content with the status quo. Their vision for this game is fresh and innovative, and we’re looking forward to working alongside them to bring it to players around the world.
“That, I think, is a place where our game will be able to really differentiate itself from the other titles in the genre. There’s nothing about this genre that prevents it from having amazing characters and amazing stories–it’s just not really been explored yet.” Brown said that Brittain opened up even more opportunities to make it resonate with players, as his “superpower” is his ability to create more human characters, complete with flaws, quirks, and weirdness, which helps gamers fall in love with them. That might explain the racing game talent drain from Playground, too. Brown and his colleagues weren’t the only ones to walk away from their former employer after, which is also developing its own “genre-defining franchise.
