Boutique Hotel and apartments planned for disused building at the centre of the town
The company behind plans for a new 30 bed, boutique hotel in Limavady town centre say they hope the investment will act as a "springboard" to regenerate the town.
The applicants, subject to planning approval, say they hope to see the new hotel open "by the end of 2025". Another large hotel - the Gorteen House Hotel - closed around 20 years ago.
"At the front, we're going to have a 30-bed boutique hotel with a restaurant. It's over four stories at the front. It's going to be built to be sympathetic to the local surroundings.The spokesperson continued: "We're quite excited about it. It's probably going to employ something around 25 to 35 people - we don't quite know yet. Our estimates are based on around about 10,000 new visitors into the town center on an annual basis.
And on the plans for the rear of the property, the spokesperson said: "There's 26 apartments planned for the rear. It is social housing. There is quite a lot of need actually and these would be in an ideal location. They're close to everything. They're going to bring a bit of life back into the town. There's car parking provided for those apartments and they're beautifully designed as well.
