The ‘thriving’ North Halfway Community Hall has a new lease of life after fearing the worst following South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture’s decision to withdraw funding.
The free download features the latest breaking news and exclusive stories, and allows you to customise your page to the sections that matter most to you. However, a new committee for the hall has now been established - who are fighting back against the decision by working with South Lanarkshire Council on a community asset transfer to keep the hall serving the local area.
“There is a lot of work to be done moving forward, however, we have an enthusiastic committee and group of volunteers who have lots of varied and exciting ideas. “The new committee is looking to work alongside a group of volunteers to get the hall recognised as a busy community-centred hub again. There is still so much to be done and a long road in front of us.“It’s great to see it thriving, but it’s still about looking forward. We are still not out of the woods yet, but in less than a month, we have seen some great and positive progress.”
