Thanks to these new payments from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), you could save a stack of cash next year. And it's ideal if you're worried about how to make ends meet (as we all are in this never-ending cost of living crisis).
And the best bit, some are available even if you don't claim benefits. So, everyone can benefit. Here are the 7 cost of living key payments you need on your radar for 2025. Household Support Fund – up to £500 The Household Support Fund (HSF) gives a money boost to struggling households and has been extended several times since it was introduced by the previous Conservative Party government in 2021. The cash is distributed from a government pot worth £421 million. And it's dished out to local councils to distribute to those most in need in their area. Depending on where you live money could be paid out as a direct cash transfer, shopping vouchers or by other means to help with bills and other expenses. You can check what your local council is offering on their website. Unfortunately, it is a bit of a postcode lottery. But the highest payments recorded in some local authority areas are as much as £500. Check your local council to see if there are any schemes you can take advantage of. Energy hardship schemes – up to £2,000 If you're a hard up household then a number of energy firms offer grants to cover the cost of their bills, including British Gas, Scottish Power and EDF.
