Parents were left 'shocked and confused' after Tiddlywinks suddenly closed its doors

Police have issued a new statement after a nursery permanently closed in Oldham amid claims staff members were 'held at gunpoint'.

The force said officers were called to Rock Street in the town centre on Thursday evening to 'reports of a man with an item that appeared to be a firearm'. Searches were carried out but no weapon was found, a GMP spokesperson said. No arrests were made and officers are not looking for anyone, police said in a bid to reassure residents.

"GMP will always thoroughly investigate reports of incidents of this nature, and we would like the thank the public for their patience whilst we conducted our investigation." The letter assured parents they will be refunded. One mother said she was 'shocked and confused', adding: "This whole thing is an absolute nightmare.
