The Dumfries and Galloway Winter Warmth Campaign brings together a number of organisations in a bid to tackle fuel poverty.
Chair of the Tackling Poverty and Inequalities Partnership, Nick Hopkins, said: “For some families, it’s a heartbreaking choice between heating and eating. Others are panicked about what their next bill might bring.“I’m very pleased to say that a strong coalition of local agencies has been established to promote awareness of the support that is available.
More than one third of Dumfries and Galloway households are affected by fuel poverty – one of the highest rates in Scotland. The new campaign offers advice, financial assistance and help, with partners able to provide support dealing with bills and fuel debts, energy saving tips and carrying out benefit checks.
