The Empower Project is working within the area to tackle issues that matter to the local community
A new project based in Co Derry is aiming to empower local residents, encourage positive leadership, and boost community spirit.
Many of these projects are working in communities that suffer from high levels of economic and social deprivation where the peace process has delivered little benefits. “Through IFI support, it is our hope that communities continue to move forwards, find solutions to violence and create more positive ways of working with one another for the betterment of society.”
The team believe that women are the backbone of any community and will offer capacity and confidence programmes to develop skills to create positive change. Julieann Campbell, project co-ordinator at The Empower Project, added: "We’re proud to work with the Creggan community, and to deliver support and training where it’s needed most. Peacebuilding work can be challenging but we’re confident we can recognise these challenges and find solutions together to benefit the wider community."
