The restaurant will celebrate the freshest local food
A former Methodist chapel is being turned into a restaurant celebrating farm to fork freshness. Two leading lights on the Nottinghamshire food scene are behind the new venture that will be serving throughout the day from breakfast time to night-time cocktails.
Opening on Tuesday December 3, the restaurant will kick off with a Christmas menu, offering three courses for £40. Once a 19th century place of worship in High Street, Edwinstowe, the restaurant is appropriately called The Chapel. The new venture is the brainchild of the award-winning team behind BOHNS Best Burgers in Nottingham, who took the crown for Best Burger Bar in England in both 2022 and 2023 and are finalists again for 2024. They have partnered with Justin Halpin, of Smokehouse UK, whose business delivers authentic "badass" Texan barbecue. But the restaurant's menu will be very different to the burgers and BBQ cuisine they are known for.
As many ingredients as possible will come from within a 10-mile radius with every dish "a celebration of British flavours reimagined with a contemporary flair". Breakfast and brunch will also be served at The Chapel including a Full English, avocado toast, croquettes with dippy eggs and shakshuka, helpfully spelt out as 'shak-shoo-ka' on the menu for anyone not familiar with the pronunciation. Sunday roasts will also be served.
