Residents in regional NSW have been warned to brace for more wild weather as an intense storm cell sweeps across the state, bringing more strong wind, heavy rain and hail stones.
The Bureau of Meteorology and State Emergency Service have warned residents in parts of the Hunter, Mid North Coast, and Northern Tablelands to expect more rain.Damaging winds and heavy rainfall are expected from Sydney to Seal Rocks throughout the day, and ease into the late evening.Residents in regional New South Wales have been warned to brace for more wild weather as an intense storm cell sweeps across the state, bringing strong wind, heavy rain and hailstones.
"The expectation is that that will form a low-pressure system off the coast into Friday, and that low is going to dominate the weather around the eastern parts of NSW into Saturday," Daniel Hayes, a community information officer with the Bureau of Meterology, told the ABC. The weather bureau has also issued a flood watch for a number of catchments along the North and North East Coast for minor flooding in the next 24 to 48 hours.On Wednesday, storms raged across the state, from Wagga Wagga up to the Hunter region.Power provider Ausgrid, which services Sydney, Newcastle and the Hunter said around 90 per cent of outages on Wednesday night were the result of lightning strikes, with more than 300,000 strikes reported statewide.
The company's outage map shows the bulk of remaining outages are in Port Stephens, with holiday towns like Nelson Bay largely without power.
