Farmers have gathered in a dusty paddock in northern New South Wales to share how they have improved their readiness for life without regular rain.
Farmers across northern New South Wales are getting ready for life without regular rain as they look to the skies in hope of some relief.
They have gathered on sheep producer Jeremy Phipps's farm on a hot, windy day with smoke haze lingering in the air. "We're putting in remote monitoring so we can actually try and identify when faults happen so you can get out there and fix them quicker so you're not wasting water," Mr Phipps said.Mr Phipps is not alone is his journey to invest in drought-proofing through technology.
"I think people are realising now that our lived experience of variability in the climate doesn't apply any more."The experiences we got from our parents or the experiences we've had in the time we've been farming may not be enough for the future." As well as making practical decisions on-farm, Mr Firth said there was another recent lesson he had learnt.
