State Pension invite letters are sent out four months before someone reaches retirement age
State Pension currently provides essential financial support for 12.5 million older people across the UK, including some 981,399 living in Scotland. This regular payment is available for those who have reached the UK Government’s eligible retirement age, which is now 66 for both men and women, and have paid at least 10 years’ of National Insurance contributions.
Which means, unless you respond to the letter confirming that you want to start claiming State Pension, you will not receive any payments as the DWP will interpret no response as a wish to defer. “For customers whose State Pension Age is after 6th April 2016 they can use the online ‘Get Your State Pension’ digital service to complete their claim.”
