INDIANAPOLIS — A new superintendent will be leadingIn an statement Wednesday morning, a district spokesperson announced Scott Collins was unanimously approved by the school board of trustees on April 9 as the district's next superintendent, effective July 1.
Collins, who is currently the superintendent of the Fayette County School Corporation, has worked in education for nearly three decades as a teacher, principal, personnel director, finance director and assistant superintendent. Prior to his year as an assistant superintendent and eight years as superintendent of the district, Collins was a principal in the Avon Community School Corporation for more than eight years.“I am excited about becoming a part of a school community that is Decatur Proud!" Collins said in a statement."As I have met with members of the community, school staff, administrators, and the school board, the love and passion for Decatur Schools is so evident.
Collins has a bachelor's degree from Indiana University, master's degrees from Ball State University and an Education Specialist Degree from Indiana State University.
