The robot at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon allows surgeons to operate in a less invasive way.
Consultant surgeons Anwar Owais and Roderick Alexander have performed seven bowel operations with the robot so farA surgical robot purchased earlier this year has been used for its first procedures.
The robot, at Great Western Hospital in Swindon, will be used in general surgery, urology and gynaecology. Chief operating officer at Great Western Hospital, Felicity Taylor-Drew, added: "This is about us being long-sighted for the future."It's brilliant for the local people here."
