Wirral Council has released video footage showing how its controversial sea wall in West Kirby 'works'.
The wall was controversial during construction but following completion, public perception has reportedly become more positive. In response to the council’s latest video, which showed the wall in action, people praised the scheme for its look, extra seating, as well as preventing water from spilling out onto the road.
Explaining the local authority’s response, the council said: “The council receives notices for flood alerts from the Environment Agency and these alerts are assessed alongside weather reports and tidal information. If conditions indicate there may be flooding the council’s highways team will be sent to close the flood gates.
