Housebuilder Cameron Homes is planning to contruct 54 new homes off Mapperley Plains, filling in the gap between Brookfields garden centre and Davidsons Homes' 164-home Alexandra Place estate

A developer is plotting to transform a plot of former greenbelt land into a "'visually pleasing" housing estate with dozens of new family homes. Housebuilder Cameron Homes is planning to construct 54 new homes off Mapperley Plains, filling in the gap between Brookfields garden centre and Davidsons Homes' 164-home Alexandra Place estate.

The 2.11 hectares of greenfield was classed as protected greenbelt land until the area and the space now occupied by the newly-built Alexandra Place development were allocated for housing. Planners for Cameron Homes explained in documents submitted to Gedling Borough Council that the properties would be accessed through the Davidsons Homes estate.

There would be a mix of open market and affordable homes ranging from two-bedroom to five-bedroom, according to these plans, as well as improved local infrastructure, open space for residents, and landscaping. The applicant's architects, outlining its plans in a planning document, explained they had designed the estate to fit in "seamlessly" with the new estate surrounding it.

"The principles behind the design aim was to create a strong and well-planned environment where residents will want to live and socialise," Cameron Homes' architect added in a planning document. The planning application is pending consideration by Gedling Borough Council.
