New Zealand has hit out at"cyber-enabled espionage" after it was confirmed a Chinese state-sponsored group was linked to an incident on parliamentary systems.

A probe by the Government's Communications Security Bureau's National Cyber Security Centre has linked the activity to a People's Republic of China-backed group. "This link has been reinforced by analysis from international partners of similar events in their own jurisdictions." "These networks contain important information that enables the effective operation of the New Zealand government.The Prime Minister & Minister Collins have expressed concerns today about malicious cyber activity targeting democratic institutions in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Ms Collins said the incident served"as a timely reminder to all organisations and individuals to have strong cyber security measures in place".
