Newcastle are “confident” of tying Alexander Isak down to a new contract but are likely to have to include a release clause to secure an agreement,Any release clause in the 24-year-old’s new deal will likely be similar to that of teammate Bruno Guimaraes, which could only be triggered by a rival at a specific time.
Talks on a new deal between Isak and Newcastle started in the summer about replacing his current contract, which is due to expire in June 2028. Averaging just over a goal every other game, only Man City’s Erling Haaland and Chelsea’s Cole Palmer beat his tally of 21 goals last season. In all competitions for Newcastle, his 71 matches have yielded 36 goals and six assists.
