There is currently a substantial difference between Leicester’s valuation and what Newcastle are prepared to pay, making the deal a difficult one to do.
Leicester’s valuation is believed to around £60million, but there is a hope on the Newcastle end a compromise can be reached. However, Brendan Rodgers has insisted publicly that he does not want to sell the midfielder, implying Newcastle’s opening offer was borderline derisory. If a deal does come to fruition, it is unlikely to do so quickly.
