The inside track on the football stories that matter
Newcastle United fans are fuming with Gareth Southgate and the lack of game time afforded to Anthony Gordon at Euro 2024.
The Newcastle winger, who scored 11 goals and provided 10 assists in the Premier League last season, appears to have fallen behind Ebere Eze and Cole Palmer in the pecking order. This lack of game time for Gordon comes despite the inconsistent performances of Phil Foden, while a key issue for England has been their lack of width, especially on the left.
Aye, been awfully mis-managed and criminally underused. Knowing Gordon though, that just means he’s going to kill it next season. Why did Southgate take him – and then refuse to use him? Every single week, Gordon shows how much of a threat he is to defenses, yet the National team Manager refuses to put him on the pitch. What's going on? Get rid of Southgate!
