Match ratings and comments on all the Newcastle United playersWe asked Davey Hat-Trick to give us his match ratings and player comments after Newcastle 1 Fulham 2.Another team who sat below us in the table came to our so-called fortress and did a number on us.Newcastle looked a bit jaded to me, which should not have been the case after a free week, and which is of great concern ahead of the Arsenal game.
Another bad day at the office for Newcastle and another opportunity to demonstrate our alleged Champions League credentials squandered.Apart from that, everything was punted straight down his throatNot his day but not the worst. Looked quite good in attack, slightly less so in defence. Made an excellent forward run which could have resulted in a goal but for a smart stop by Leno. Like the whole team, faded in the second half.Played some good passes, made some good interceptions, and carried the ball out of defence a couple of times.
However, could have done better on both of Fulham’s goals. His positioning is usually much better than this.It was a battle for BDB and he acquitted himself reasonably well. Played OK but no more. Some decent forward runs but his touch let him down a few times in defence. Didn’t look confident. As ever, he was industrious, read the game well and looked comfortable.
Hit the bar with a howitzer of a shot from 20-odd yards. Then played one poor pass which ordinarily wouldn’t have mattered. This time it led to Fulham’s first goal.Held his own in the first half but was overrun by a far more sprightly Fulham midfield in the second. Subbed off.Picked up an injury and should probably have been subbed off before he was.Scored a nice goal, got a couple of decent balls into the box, and was a willing worker. However, it wasn’t enough.
