Eddie Howe is apparently hoping Pulisic can be the Magpies’ next ‘statement signing’ after completing deals to sign Bruno Guimaraes, Alexander Isak, and Sven Botman this year. United and Arsenal are said to be ‘monitoring’ the winger’s situation, though Newcastle do hold a key advantage over the Premier League big boys.
Both the Red Devils and Gunners will try to sign Pulisic on loan, unlike the Geordies, who are interested in a permanent deal.However, their asking price would start at around £40million, despite the fact they paid a fee in the region of £85m to sign him from Borussia Dortmund. Newcastle ‘hope’ Chelsea will knock the price down, probably because they have to compete with financial fair play rules. A wide forward is one of the north east club’s top priorities in January as they look to continue their push for continental football next season. If a move for Pulisic fails to materialise, it is said that Eddie Howe will turn his attention to Brighton’s Leandro Trossard or Leeds United’s Jack Harrison. However, Pulisic would be tempted to move to Newcastle with the opportunity to play regularly in the Premier League tickling his fancy.
