The council plans to cut some access to cars and add more greenery and space.
Devon County Council said part of Queen Street would be closed to carsWork is due to start on the enhancement of Queen Street, in Newton Abbot, in summer 2024, Devon County Council said.
There would also be additional public seating, space and better access to shops and services, they added. "Whether they browse, walk or cycle, meet and eat, or enjoy a cultural experience Newton Abbot will be truly back on the map."
