CLEVELAND, Ohio — The big names available in the 2024 NFL Draft are mostly off the board. However, while Thursday and Friday get the spotlight, Saturday is considered the most important day of the draft.
The Steelers added their third offensive lineman of the weekend by selecting South Dakota State IOL Mason McCormick. They also drafted Troy Fautanu and Zach Frazier earlier in the draft.The Atlanta Falcons pulled one of the biggest shockers in recent NFL draft history by selecting Washington QB Michael Penix Jr. with the eighth pick on Thursday night.The Colts, meanwhile, drafted one of the stars in the NFL combine regardless of position in Wisconsin IOL Tanor Bortolini.
Two more notable names came off the board as the Falcons took Oregon DL Brandon Dorlus at 109 and the Patriots selected UCF WR Javon Baker with pick 110.The first trend of the day is defensive players starting to come off the board quickly. Three straight defenders have come off the board after three straight offensive players starting the day.
Meanwhile, the long wait for Oregon’s Troy Franklin finally ended as the Broncos traded up to No. 102 to get the speedy receiver.The third day of the 2024 NFL Draft is about to start with the Carolina Panthers making the first pick of the day at No. 101.While the eyes in Cleveland will be on the Browns first and foremost, another thing fans always want to know is what the rest of their division rivals are doing.
Their fourth-round pick this year is the final piece that went to the Houston Texans in the Deshaun Watson trade.The Browns were silent on Day 1, not having a first-round pick for the third year in a row. They had two picks on Friday night and used them to select Ohio State DT Michael Hall Jr. and Michigan G Zak Zinter.
