The New York Jets newest player is thrilled about landing in Florham Park. Here's why.
Updated: Apr. 25, 2024, 11:00 p.m.Penn State offensive lineman Olu Fashanu runs the 40-yard dash at the NFL football scouting combine, Sunday, March 3, 2024, in Indianapolis.This night would have been hard to envision for Olu Fashunu back in 2016, when he started playing football as a freshman in high school near Washington, D.C.
That’s part of the reason Fashanu said he felt at home with the Jets throughout the pre-draft process. He had a good meeting with them at the NFL Combine nearly two months ago. And it only got better once he came to Florham Park for his pre-draft visit. “It’s awesome, just to have the opportunity to be on the same team as a future Hall of Famer, in Aaron Rodgers,” Fashanu said. “Just growing up watching him, all the great things that he’s done throughout his career ... just asking him any tips and advice about what made him successful? That’s the best opportunity.”
As for his road to playing as a rookie? It might be tough with Smith ahead of him at left tackle and Morgan Moses on the right side. Fashanu said he’s been working at right tackle since last year at Penn State and mostly trained at right tackle during the pre-draft process.
