The Los Angeles Kings introduced a new logo on Thursday that will look familiar to fans of the team who have been following since the Wayne Gretzky era.
The Los Angeles Kings changed their Twitter/X profile photo late Wednesday. While younger fans might have been unfamiliar with the silhouetted avatar, it would have been a familiar shape to the many Californians who took an interest in hockey on or around Aug. 9, 1988 — the day the Edmonton Oilers traded Gretzky to Los Angeles.
According to a press release from the team, the Kings introduced 'new word marks, brand font, and updated color palette, which features a new 'enhanced silver, which will be showcased on the club's new jerseys that will be introduced next week.'The timing of the change is interesting.
