‘We try and get there when the day and night teams switch so the day teams can have it for dinner and the night teams can have it for breakfast,’ Dr Harshini said.Some of the food that was given out She started about a month ago, driving around to hospitals after work with the food people have donated and dropped off at her house.
The food includes packed lunch bags with crisps, sandwiches and water, as well as hot food like pasta bake, curry, and salmon with salad.She is working with Compassion London, the Felix Project, the Covid-19 Response Kitchen and her local Kingsbury Temple to get the donations.Hospital staff saying thanks for the donations
Dr Gejen Kamalatharan, 29, from Harrow, A&E doctor at Northwick Park Hospital, has been one of those to benefit from the food deliveries.He said: ‘A lot of us have gone onto a Covid rota so our shift patterns have changed. There are more unsociable hours now so it’s quite difficult to get to the shops to get what you need. Some people are having to isolate and stay by themselves whereas they would usually be with family.
‘It’s good because it keeps us fed! I think the main thing aside from that is it’s a good boost for morale. It shows the team that there are other people thinking of us and it’s a good symbol of how people have come together to support frontline staff.‘It can be quite demoralising at work given what we’re seeing so having something to look forward to is always very good and puts a positive spin on things.
