The prime minister has said he is drawing up a plan to reform the NHS after a report found the service was in a 'critical condition'
The NHS will not get any extra money without undergoing reforms to improve the service, the prime minister announced today. He made the pledge after a damming report into the NHS in England warned it was in a ‘critical condition’.
Talking at an event this morning, Sir Keir Starmer called the findings ‘unforgiveable’ and heartbreaking’. He said the fault lay with the previous government stating:‘But until this morning, we didn’t know the full scale of the damage.’ This would mean families would be able to get ‘more tests, scans and healthcare offered on high streets and towns centres’.
Can the NHS be saved? The report into the state of the NHS was completed by Lord Darzi, an NHS surgeon and former health minister. He said that the NHS could be fixed and kept free for everyone.
