Storm Bert brought extreme flooding and power cuts across the region last night.
After severe flooding across Northern Ireland overnight on Friday, a local council has taken the decision to postpone their Christmas lights event.
Ards and North Down Borough Council issued a statement on Saturday afternoon, to inform the public of its decision to hold off on tonight's Christmas Light Switch On event, due to the weather conditions. Their statement read: "Due to the impact of the overnight weather conditions and despite our best efforts, we regret to inform you that the Christmas Lights Switch On event scheduled for this evening at 6pm has been postponed.READ MORE: Met Office issue further weather warning as Storm Bert makes landfall in NI"We are deeply disappointed to make this decision and extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in planning the event for their support and understanding.
