Details on the £100 home heating oil credit, low income costofliving payment and more

As the colder weather returns to Northern Ireland, people across the country are feeling the strain of having to heat their homes amid the cost of living crisis.

Your payment might come later, for example if you are awarded qualifying tax credits at a later date or you change the account your tax credits are paid into. You will still be paid the payment automatically. You may get a lump sum payment of £150 if you get any of the following: If you were born on or before 25 September 1956 you could get between £250 and £600 to help you pay your heating bills. This is known as a ‘Winter Fuel Payment’.

If you are entitled to a Winter Fuel Payment for winter 2022 to 2023, you will get this extra £300 paid with your normal payment from November 2022. For customers in Northern Ireland, both the Energy Price Guarantee and Energy Bills Support Scheme will work very similarly to those in Great Britain.Energy price guarantee for NI homes

For pre-payment meter customers in Northern Ireland, the Energy Price Guarantee will be applied to the rate you pay for each unit of energy at the same rate as for all other customers , so the money you put on the meter will last longer than would otherwise have been the case this winter.
