Chelsea was left 'debilitated, degraded and mentally suffering'
A Co Armagh couple are on a mission to raise awareness of the same extreme pregnancy sickness condition made famous by Catherine, the Princess of Wales.
She has said she felt "utterly rotten" when expecting Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, suffering with "very bad morning sickness" after she was diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum, which causes severe vomiting. "Two babies, two hyperemesis gravidarum pregnancies, two periods of my life where I was debilitated and degraded to the point where I was bed bound. Physically, I was dehydrated and losing weight. Mentally I was suffering like I’ve never suffered before," she recalled.
Chelsea is not alone as one in four people experiencing hyperemesis gravidarum during pregnancy will have suicidal thoughts. The PSS counselling team provides mental health support to those affected through one-on-one counselling sessions.
