An online fundraiser for two-year-old Niamh Simpson has raised thousands

A Derry nurse who was due to start a new job in England this month had to put her life on hold when her infant daughter was diagnosed with leukaemia.

Within days, Niamh was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and is now in hospital in Essex undergoing treatment. Speaking to Belfast Live, Ciara said: "Amelia got a job offer and she was due to start in the second week of October. Niamh took fevers, chills and came out in a rash on the first of October. It all happened in the space of a week."

"Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia is an overproduction of immature lymphoid cells, called lymphoblasts or blast cells. Immature lymphoid cells fill up the bone marrow and stop it making healthy blood cells."
