'This is betrayal, and we should not welcome those who have betrayed us'

Green Party leader Mal O'Hara has called for the Executive parties to be banned from walking in this year's Pride marches.

However, Green Party leader Mal O'Hara has said that the Executive parties have "betrayed" the LGBTQ+ community and should not be welcome at this year's marches. “Lgbtq+ people experience significant inequalities, particularly in health. Almost all progress on lgbtq+ equality has come from either Westminster or through the Courts. The five executive parties, despite many promises and draping themselves in Rainbow flags, have never progressed equality for our community. Meanwhil,e all other parts of these islands have fully funded equality strategies."

The Department of Health has recently published the advice provided to the Health Minister by the CMO which recommended that the ban be introduced based on the Cass Review and the associated NICE evidence review stating that there was "very low-quality evidence" of the impact of the medication and the potential for harm.
