Police have asked motorists to drive with extra caution on Thursday as a snow and ice warning is in place
The Met Office yellow warning came into place at 9am on Thursday, February 8, and will remain in place until 6am on Friday, February 9.
And in a social media post, Police, Newry, Mourne and Down say that "roads are currently treacherous and many are impassable" in the Newtownhamilton area.Regarding the weather warning, the Met Office said: "An area of rain, sleet and snow will move north across Northern Ireland on Thursday. Accumulating snow is expected to be mainly over higher ground above 150 metres, whilst at lower levels many places will see little if any snow.

Friday's weather forecast: The Met Office said: "Cloudy with rain and hill snow, this prolonged and locally heavy at first but becoming increasingly patchy through the day and easterly winds will gradually decrease. Maximum temperature 4C."
