After reading very many bedtime stories to his children over the last seven years, Andrew Crooks decided to try writing one of his own
A Northern Ireland teacher says he was inspired to pen his first book after reading to his own children at bedtime over the years.
Having studied Maths and Computer Science at Queen’s University in Belfast, Andrew trained to become a Maths teacher and has been working at Dunclug College for the past 19 years. "I have often been guilty of rolling my eyes at my wife during or after a story which doesn't really 'grab me'. I've often said I could do better myself, and eventually she challenged me to get on with it.
Andrew added: "I worked in Ballee High School for one year and was then appointed to my current job in Dunclug 19 years ago. I'm Head of Maths, which makes this whole book writing story very peculiar! "The front cover was actually a collaborative effort between myself and Mrs Simpson, our Head of Art in Dunclug. We spent many months emailing back and forth until finally, in January of this year, the book was finished!
He said: "I've other ideas, notes and stories that I'd love to pursue for publication, but I'm currently content to watch how this story unfolds."
